Storylines
Lane Pattern Analysis
The lane pattern for the 2025 NDBowling.com Classic will be a custom 42 foot pattern put together by the folks at Kegel. This pattern features a ratio of 2.97-1 with just about 30 mls of oil. I expect this pattern to be fairly playable with a moderate scoring pace. The key will be how the second squad plays the pattern early on. Will they be influenced by what they see out of the first squad? Look for the cut to be in the +25 to +50 range.
Format Changes
The 2025 NDBowling.com Classic will feature two qualifying squads, one at 9 am and one at 3 pm. This change was made to accommodate more bowlers after selling out the tournament the last two seasons. Each squad will feature 60 bowlers with the top 30 players advancing to Sunday. If spots are available in the afternoon squad, bowlers will be able to re-enter. If more want to re-enter than spots available, a random draw will be held.
On Sunday, the top 30 bowlers will return to Sunset Lanes for a 4 game block with pins carrying over from qualifying. Following the 4th game, the top 12-game total will advance to the stepladder finals as the #1 seed. The next 24 players (2nd-25th) will move on to the single elimination bracket linked below. Each match will be 2 game total pins. After 3 rounds, the final 4 undefeated players will advance to the stepladder finals on NDBowlTV. Players will be placed into stepladder finals based on bracket seeding. Highest seeded final 4 player will be the 2 in the stepladder finals and so on.
NDBowling.com Player of the Year Race
The NDBowling.com Player of the Year Race will conclude this weekend at the Classic. Currently, Josh Kragh leads the race by a narrow margin, but a few players are within striking distance. With Thomas Wolf absent from the roster and 42.5 points going to the winner, only Randy Peterson and Tayler Wallstrum can mathematically catch Kragh for the Player of the Year honor. Kragh can lock up the race with a 7th place finish or better.
Top 5 Entering the Classic:
1 – Josh Kragh | 167.50
2 – Thomas Wolf | 166.10
3 – Randy Peterson | 156.45
4 – Tayler Wallstrum | 150.30
5 – Doug Wagner Jr. | 120.35
