The annual NDBPA State Scratch Doubles tournament was held this past weekend at Strike Zone in Williston. 29 doubles teams entered for a chance at the $2000 top prize. All teams bowled 16 baker games on Saturday and 8 individual games on Sunday with high pin total taking home the title.
Freezing rain on Saturday morning lead to a delayed start time as icy roads made travel difficult for competitors. Once the tournament got going, it was no question who was going to be the team to beat. Blake Wallstrum and Eric Parvey fired a day 1 total of 3630 (226.87 ave) for the baker portion of the event. Their 3630 score was over 125 pins clear of the field and over 450 pins clear of the final cash spot in 7th.
On Sunday, Aaron Petrowitz and Barry Zimmerman got within 60 pins of Wallstrum/Parvey following game 5, but that would be as close as anyone would get. Wallstrum and Parvey put the tournament away the final 3 games on Sunday firing 753 and 727 respectively. Wallstrum and Parvey would go on to post a day 2 total of 3647 which was 150 pins clear of the next best total for the day and finished the tournament over 300 pins above the next best team. Wallstrum and Parvey would also be the only doubles team to place both players in the top 10 individually on Sunday.
Doubles Standings: (top 7 paid)
1 – Wallstrum/Parvey 7277
2 – Petrowitz/Zimmerman 6956
3 – Scott/Woznicki 6699
4 – Allen/Seney 6653
