Stairway to Seven

Posted on December 8, 2022 By admin

The annual NDBPA State Scratch Team even was held this past weekend at Paragon Bowl in Dickinson, ND.

The tournament was conducted on a modified house pattern that yielded fairly high scores. Setting the tone early was Travis Hersrud of Team ND Storm. Hersrud shot 835 his first three games and followed it up with a 759 to finish day 1 at 1594. ND Storm (Hersrud, Randy Peterson, Eric Kempel, Tayler Wallstrum) found themselves in first after day 1 with a comfortable 251 pin lead.

On Day 2, things tightened up a bit as teams chasing ND Storm made a push for the lead. Team Lucky Strike (Ryan Selk, Mike Green, Tracy Tofteland, Kyle Niess) posted 4 of their first 5 games over 900 to get within 80 pins but were unable to take the lead the final game. Randy Peterson fired off a 300 game on day two to help boost team ND Storm to the victory.

The win gives team ND Storm their 7th NDBPA State Scratch Team title in the NDBowling.com era (since 2012) and their first since 2019.
