Singles
The action started with Singles on Saturday where 68 entries bowled 9 games on the 2023 PBA Tackett pattern. Following the 9 game qualifying round, the top 5 would advance to the stepladder finals.
14-year old Tatum Lee paced the field shooting 782 his first 3 games. Despite the lead changing hands throughout the 9 game block, it was Lee who would ultimately claim the top overall seed in the finals with a 2125 total. Lee would be joined in the stepladder by Clayton Mohr, Tayler Wallstrum, Doug Wagner, and Wade Scott.

It was a redemption story for Tayler Wallstrum in the stepladder finals. A year after falling in the championship match at Midway Lanes, Wallstrum used a combination of the Storm Ion Pro and Virtual Energy Blackout to get the job done and claim his first NDBPA State Singles title. For his efforts, Wallstrum took home the $1200 top prize. Great bowling Tayler!
Doubles
On Sunday, bowlers returned for the Doubles portion of the weekend. The event featured 37 doubles teams bowling a 6 game qualifying sprint on the 2022 SYC Indy Medium pattern. Bowlers would each bowl 6 individual games with the top 5 team totals advancing to the stepladder finals.
Qualifying was dominated by 2-time winners Blake Wallstrum and Thomas Wolf. Wallstrum lead all scores with a 1473 total while Wolf contributed 1387 which was 4th overall. The pair lead the qualifying round by over 130 pins to claim the top overall seed in the stepladder finals. Rounding out the top 5 for the finals were Tayler Wallstrum/Josh Kragh, Talon Jacobson/Dylan Rubey, Henry Trutwin/Dustin Herold, & Matt Smallin/Daren Seney.

After a slow start to qualifying, Jacobson/Rubey showed great resolve by shooting 238 over for their final 4 games to vault themselves into the stepladder as the 3 seed. The win gives Jacobson/Rubey their first NDBPA State Scratch Doubles title and the $2400 top prize. Great bowling!
