The annual NDBPA State Scratch Doubles tournament was held this past weekend at Midway Lanes in Mandan, ND. As a tournament favorite among many locals, the tournament consistently draws over 20 doubles teams each year with 22 entering this season. The format for this event was changed slightly from last year. All teams bowled 16 baker games on Saturday and returned on Sunday morning where all bowlers would bowl 8 games and final pin total would win.
On Saturday, the baker portion of the tournament was dominated by Chris Charles and Mike Larson. The combo lead the way shooting a 16 game total of 3680 (230 average).
Top 5 on Saturday:
1 – Charles/Larson 3680
2 – Sandvick/Sandvick 3576
3 – Zimmerman/Petrowitz 3472
4 – Scott/Selk 3436
5 – Peterson/Vander Vorst 3351
On Sunday all bowlers bowled 8 games to determine not only a doubles champion but a singles champion as well. Randy Peterson lead the way with an 8 game total of 1878 (234.75 ave) to claim the Singles title for the tournament. Peterson was joined by a 1747 (218.37) effort by partner Bob Vander Vorst giving them a 6976 tournament total which was good enough for the doubles title. The win marks the 5th different combo to win the event since 2012.

2 – Zimmerman/Petrowitz 6879
3 – Sandvick/Sandvick 6876

I’m sure he is still sorting through all of his side pot envelopes. We will post the complete standings once we receive a copy from the bowling center.
