The NDBowlTV Masters was created in 2019 to provide bowlers with another opportunity to win a spot to the USBC Masters. For many years, the only USBC Masters spot awarded all season long was to the scratch all events winner at the state open tournament. Unlike the state open tournament, the NDBowlTV Masters would be held on some of the most brutal conditions in bowling. If bowlers are competing for a spot in the USBC Masters, they should do so on Masters conditions. This season, Thomas Wolf took those conditions head on and turned in a masterful performance of his own on NDBowlTV.
Saturday’s qualifying round was held on the 2-1 ratio 2017 USBC Masters pattern. This pattern played extremely difficult as not a single bowler in the field would go on to shoot plus in qualifying. The top 16 bowlers advanced to the bracket where 3 game total pin matches would take place.
On Sunday, Thomas Wolf took out Daren Seney in the first round as both bowlers struggled to find a consistent look. Wolf would advanced to play Ryan Holzworth in the second round. Following a lackluster game 1, Wolf made a zone move game 2 that would lead to averaging over 225 the last two games in the match. This would vault Wolf to the victory in the match along with the #1 seed on the NDBowlTV show.
NDBowlTV Finals:
Randy Peterson def. Jamey Kragh, 190-166
Brad Peterson def. Randy Peterson, 188-170
Brad Peterson def. Jeremiah Smith, 212-184
Thomas Wolf def. Brad Peterson, 193-182
Wolf finished out the tournament with a double in the tenth to defeat Brad Peterson and win a spot to the 2021 USBC Masters. Congratulations, Thomas! The win will also give Wolf an early lead in the 2020-2021 NDBowling.com Player of the Year race. This marks the 2nd straight season where the winner has doubled in the tenth on a demanding oil pattern to win the title.
