The 34th annual KFYR TV Bowling Classic was held this past weekend at Midway Lanes in Mandan, ND. This tournament once again provided a full field of 120 bowlers with over $5000 in added prize money.
The tournament kicked off on Saturday with an 8 game qualifying round on a custom 41 foot pattern. Leading the way was Thomas Wolf. Wolf lapped the field shooting a 1913 8 game total (239.12 Ave), 126 pins clear of second. Rounding out the top 30 was a 3-way tie for 28th between Dale Newton, Bryan Goehring, and Antonio Tejeda at 1658 (207.25 ave).
Saturday’s qualifying round concluded with a banquet that featured food, prizes, and earnings from the qualifying round.
The top 30 bowlers returned on Sunday for the match play portion of the tournament. Players were divided into 3 groups of 10 for round robin matches with the winners receiving 30 bonus pins.
Eric Parvey put on a clinic in match play going 10-0 to easily claim the top overall seed on the TV show. Joining Eric on the live KFYR TV show was Blake Wallstrum, Clayton Mohr, Justin Coste and Trysten Climer. Climer replaced Bob Vander Vorst due to injury and went on to shoot 260 in position round to vault his way into the show.

The win gives Wallstrum his first NDBowling.com Major title. Wallstrum advanced to Sunday’s match play round on the heels of a 248 game 8 in qualifying to make the cut by just 10 pins. Wallstrum’s previous best finish in a Major was 5th at the 2017 KFYR TV Bowling Classic. The win marks the 4th consecutive Major going to a first time winner.
The career grand slam will have to wait one more season for Eric Parvey, who has now finished 2nd at the KFYR twice (2014). Parvey continues his great season having finished in the top 6 of all 3 Majors.
