The first NDBowling.com Major Championship of the season was this past weekend at North Hill Bowl in Minot. The 2022 Morris Anderson Memorial Shootout featured 111 entries from all over the region where the winner would take home the $4000 top prize.
The qualifying block started on Saturday with all eyes on the $3000 300-game pot. While a couple players managed to get the front 8/9, neither were able to convert so the pot will last another season. At the end of the block, it was Paul Bober leading the way with a 1816 total. The cut to the top 30 was Tony Oliva at 1626.
Following the qualifying block, a banquet was held at North Hill Bowl to announce the top 30 and hand out side pot money. The banquet also included some food and a rather entertaining match between Arnie Gerdes and Wade Scott who rolled off for the alternate position.
On Sunday, the top 30 bowlers returned for 10 games of match play. Following the match play round, 2017 Shootout winner Nick Heilman held the top spot on the NDBowlTV finals. Heilman would make his 7th appearance on NDBowlTV in the last 9 seasons at the Shootout. Heilman would be joined on NDBowlTV by Paul Bober, Will Mateffy, Brent Neumann, and Chad Nelson.
NDBowlTV Finals:
Neumann def. Nelson 188-149
Mateffy def. Neumann 214-179
Bober def. Mateffy 224-203
