The 2023-2024 NDBowling.com Player of the Year Race has concluded, marking an end to the season’s vigorous run of various scratch tournaments across the region. The 2023-24 POY Race remained close for most of the year, but it was a late season run that ultimately lead to a 2nd POY title for Thomas Wolf. Lets take a look back at how he got there.

For Wolf, the season was about making the most of the opportunities he had. While not being able to enter all of the events due to prior commitments, Wolf took full advantage of the ones he did compete in. In the 6 tournaments entered, his worst finish was 7th at the Sjerven’s Scratch Singles tournament in Aberdeen.
Wolf amassed 162.40 points this season which ranks 3rd all time behind Mike Larson (185.37) in 2018-2019 and Eric Parvey (162.44) in 2019-2020. His impressive POY campaign was highlighted by a 2nd place finish at the KFYR TV Bowling Classic where he fell just shy of a Major title in the championship match vs Brady Stearns. Back in November, his efforts at the State Doubles tournament in Dickinson lead him and his partner, Blake Wallstrum, to another doubles title.
Throughout the season, Wolf managed to post top 10 finish after top 10 finish on a variety of conditions. From the brutal 46 foot USBC Masters Pattern used at the NDBowlTV Masters, to a modified house shot used at the State Doubles tournament, to a demanding 33 foot pattern used in Aberdeen. No matter the conditions, Wolf remained near the top all season long.
This marks the 2nd time Wolf has won the NDBowling.com Player of the Year honor, having first done so back in 2015-2016. Wolf leads a talented group of individuals on our annual Team of the Year that is awarded to the top 5 point earners. Wolf is joined by Josh Kragh, Matt Smallin, Randy Peterson, and Jamey Kragh.
Congratulations to all of the winners this season and thank you all for participating in the great tournaments offered in our area. Good luck to everyone competing in their respective state and national tournaments this Spring.
