Storylines
Lane Pattern Analysis
The lane pattern for the 2026 KFYR TV Bowling Classic will be a custom 43-foot pattern with 31.725 mls of oil and a ratio of 2.14-1 on the right and 1.97-1 on the left. The first thing that stands out when looking at this pattern is the 6, 2 to 2 loads of oil. With 6 loads of oil being applied across the lane from 2 on the left to 2 on the right for the first 10 feet, finding friction will be a challenge.
Look for straighter angles and a decent amount of surface going down the lane to start, with most players finding friction near the gutter. Navigating the subsequent carrydown will be key. All things considered, I believe the cut will to be in the -15 to -40 range. PATTERN
Celebrating 40 Years
The KFYR-TV Bowling Classic will turn 40 this season. Many bowlers have made this event a main stay in their tournament schedule for many years. Over the years, the tournament has produced 28 different winners including 7 who have won multiple titles. John Juba, Jack Nelson, and Matt Smallin hold the record for most KFYR wins all time with 3.
Urethane Rules
The 2026 KFYR-TV Bowling Classic will be adopting the 78 hardness rule for urethane equipment this season. The tournament decided to adopt the rule going forward following the recent urenthane rulings from USBC. Tournament competitors looking to use urethane equipment will be limited to those manufactured at 78 hardness after August 2022.
