Storylines
Lane Pattern Analysis
The 2025 Morris Anderson Memorial Shootout will be contested on the same pattern that was used in 2023 & 2024. The 42 foot pattern features over 30 mls of oil and has a ratio of 2.63-1. Players will find a look near the track early on allowing for multiple angles to the pocket. The key will be to manage the carry down across the 40-lane center. Fill frames in the middle of the block and you will find yourself in the mix to bowl on Sunday. While this pattern looks fairly difficult on paper, the talent level in the building will push the cut into plus territory once again. I expect the cut to be in the +15 to +35 range. PATTERN
Land of Opportunity
Historically, the Morris Anderson Memorial Shootout has produced the strongest field we see each season. Talented players from several different states and Canada make their way to the Magic City for a chance at the $4000 top prize and a NDBowling.com Major Title. This season, however, appears to be a little different. Due to college tournaments and other prior commitments, many top players will be absent from the event this season including defending champion Zach Andresen. Currently, only 19 of last seasons top 30 are on the roster which will provide an opportunity for other players to advance to match play on Sunday.
As of Tuesday, 102 players have signed up for the Shootout which brings in the conversation of taking 24 players to match play instead of 30 if the total entries don’t get closer to 110. If there was ever a year to give the Shootout a try, this is the year. Please call North Hill Bowl to sign up. (701-852-4108)
Historic Season in the Making
Reigning NDBowling.com Player of the Year, Thomas Wolf, has been putting together a season for the ages. Wolf has amassed 128.70 points so far this season which is over 30 points clear of everyone else. Having already logged 4 top 5 finishes including a win at the NDBowlTV Masters, Wolf has an opportunity to eclipse the Player of the Year point record of 185.37 set by Mike Larson in 2018-2019. Look for Wolf to be in the mix again on Sunday looking for his first NDBowling.com Major Title. Current Player of the Year Rankings
