The 2022 Manitoba Open will be held this weekend at Chateau Lanes in Winnipeg, MB. After a one year hiatus due to the pandemic, the Manitoba Open returns with a whole new format to go with it. Here are some of the storylines heading into this weekend.
Format Changes
One of the biggest storylines heading into the Manitoba Open is the format change. In past years, the qualifying round featured a 10 game block with the top scores advancing to match play. This season, the qualifying round will be 6 games and will feature 3 different shifts to allow for re-entries. Top overall qualifier will receive a $150 bonus. Following the late shift on Saturday, scores will be compiled with the top bowlers advancing to the normal match play round on Sunday. Shift times are Friday evening (6:30 PM), Saturday morning (9:00 AM), and Saturday afternoon (2:00 PM). Entry fee for the tournament is $140, Re-entries $100, and top prize is guaranteed at $1500.
Border Restrictions
With the pandemic in its latter stages, most places are starting to lift restrictions. The border is one of the places where quite a few restrictions are still in place. Bowlers traveling from the states are required to download the ArriveCAN app and follow the instructions to be permitted into Canada. Not only are you required to be vaccinated, but a negative PCR test is also required upon entry.

NDBowling.com Player of the Year Race Opportunity
2017 Manitoba Open Champion, Wade Scott, will return to Chateau Lanes this weekend looking to capture his 2nd NDBowling.com Major Title. Scott currently leads the NDBowling.com Player of the Year Race with 88.25 points and will have an opportunity grow that lead in a building that has been very nice to the left hander over the past few seasons.
Bold Predictions
Without knowing the roster, here are my bold predictions for the 2022 Manitoba Open.
– Michael Makela
– Wade Scott
– Eric Parvey

– Michael Schmidt
Just a reminder that NDBowlTV will NOT be covering the finals of the Manitoba Open this season. Please refer to the Manitoba Open Group Page on Facebook or the Chateau Lanes website for updates throughout the weekend. Tune in next Tuesday for a complete recap of the event.
