The 2020 Morris Anderson Memorial Shootout will kickoff this weekend at North Hill Bowl in Minot. The Shootout often provides one of the more talented fields we will see all season. Here are some of the story lines heading into the season’s second NDBowling.com Major Championship.
Lane Pattern Analysis
The pattern for the 2020 CMA Shootout will be a custom built 38 foot pattern that features 28.5 ml. With a 2.28-1 ratio, this pattern will provide quite a challenge to this season’s field. While extremely flat from boards 10 to 10, most of the taper in this pattern is between boards 5 and 10 on each side of the lane.
The key will be finding a ball reaction that not only allows you to exit the pattern between 5 and 10, but also keeps you out of trouble on marginal shots. The breakdown will once again shake up the standings giving an advantage to those who are able to make moves while not giving away the pocket. Ultimately, spare shooting will determine the cut in which I believe will be in the -50 to even range.
Chasing 300
Once again, the 300 game pot at the Morris Anderson Memorial Shootout will grow by $300. Farmers Union Insurance sponsors the 300 game pot that has not been won for many years. This season, the pot has inflated to $2400. Will you take home the $2400 300 game pot? or will the pot grow to $2700 next season?
Local Flavor
In the NDBowling.com Era (Since 2012), no bowler from North Dakota has claimed the Shootout Title. In fact, in 16 years, only 3 North Dakota bowlers have walked away with the title (Diederick, Parvey, Smallin). Will we see a local bowler take home the title in 2020?
