NDBowling.com Major Preview: 2026 Manitoba Open

2026 Manitoba Open

Lane Pattern Analysis
The 2026 Manitoba Open will be contested on the ABT #9 pattern. This 38-foot pattern features a 2.43-1 ratio and 24.80 mls of oil. The Manitoba Open has not been contested on a pattern shorter than 40 feet in the NDBowling.com era (Since 2012). In fact, this pattern will also go down as the flattest pattern used in that time frame as well. Factor in the lane surface and topography at Chateau Lanes and you have quite the test for those heading to Winnipeg this weekend. With urethane most certainly going to be in play, the key to this pattern will be the breakdown that follows. I expect lower than normal scores with a top 32 cut to be in the -50 to -75 range.

By the Numbers: Canada vs United States | Righty vs Lefty
Over the years, the Manitoba Open has seen its fair share of righty & lefty winners from both Canada and the United States. More recently, however, the Open has been dominated by the Canadians. The last 5 titles have all gone to Canadian bowlers with the last US winner being Eric Parvey in 2019. The recent Canadian domination has also been done from the right side of the lane. Since 2005, 12 of the 20 Manitoba Open titles have gone to Canadians with all 12 winners being right-handed. While a left-handed Canadian winner is rare, a right-handed winner from the US is just as rare. Since 2005, only 1 righty from the United States has taken home a Manitoba Open title (Andy Mills-2016).

Growing Top Prize
This season, the top prize at the Manitoba Open has grown to $4500. This puts the Manitoba Open among the top prize funds available among the 4 NDBowling.com Major tournaments (Manitoba, CMA, KFYR, NDBowling.com). Shout out to tournament director, Melody Savage, and her team for obtaining the sponsors needed to provide such a generous prize fund this year.

Bold Predictions
The 2026 Manitoba Open is projected to top 72 entries which would result in the top 32 advancing to match play with an 8-person stepladder final being contested on NDBowlTV. It is only fitting to provide 8 players in my bold predictions this season. (in no particular order)

– Austyn Ducharme
– Mitch Hupe
– Isreal Potter
– Justin Schiffler
– Josh Kragh
– Duncan DeVries
– Blake Wallstrum
– Aaron Craig
