Following qualifying on Saturday, the top 23 players plus the idiot would advance to Sunday. The cut to the top 23 was reigning NDBowling.com Player of the Year, Josh Kragh, at 1169. The 24th and final position on Sunday was determined using the idiot rule. The idiot rule awards the 24th spot to the player with the highest 2 block total of all players who didn’t finish in the top 23. Claiming the title as the idiot this season was Ryan Selk.
On Sunday, the top 23 plus the idiot would return for 3 games to determine seeding for the bracket. Bracket matches were a race to 2 games, but if tied 1-1 after two games, the match would be determined by a 9th and 10th frame roll off.
Last season, Josh Link dominated the bracket by going 10-0 to win 5 consecutive matches to claim the title. This season, Link started out hot once again by shooting 300 in game one of the seeding round and that carried on into the bracket.
Link won 6 consectutive games across 3 matches to set up a championship duel with fellow NDBowling.com Major winner, Mitch Hupé. Riding a 16-game\8-match win streak at the Fall Shootout, Link looked poised to defend his title. Hupé, however, had something to say about it. Hupé averaged over 260 in the championship match, including a 299 in game 2, to claim the title and the $4500 top prize.
BRACKET

Making his first appearance at the Fall Shootout, Hupé spent most of the weekend, including the championship match, using the new Storm Equinox Solid. The 2022 Manitoba Open Champion won matches over Nathan Smith, Dawson Unrath, and Mike Larson en route to the title match vs. Link. Great bowling, Mitch!
Big thank you to Brad, Leisha, Jese, and the entire staff at Strike Zone & Sports Den in Williston for putting on the event and awarding over $30,000 in total prize fund.
