Lane Pattern Analysis
The 2025 Manitoba Open will be contested on the 2022 Super Senior Classic pattern. This 40 foot pattern features a 3.09-1 ratio and 26.55 mls of oil. While a variety of angles will be in play, bowlers will be tasked with trying to get the ball to slow down and read the lane properly in the first 30 feet in order to carry the corners. The lane surface and topography of Chateau Lanes will make this pattern play slightly more difficult than it appears on paper. With the pattern calling for play outside of 10 board on either side, I give a slight advantage to those on the left and the more heavy handed righties. I expect the cut to be in the -30 to even range.
Ducharme Seeking 3-peat
Last season, Austyn Ducharme successfully defended his title at the Open by running the lefty gauntlet late in the 8-person stepladder finals. Ducharme became the first bowler to repeat in Manitoba since Michael Schmidt did so in 2015. This weekend, Ducharme will have the opportunity to do something that has never been done at the Open by winning the tournament for a third consecutive time. To do so, he will have to top a field that is set to be one of the strongest we have seen in several years.
Field of Dreams
Based on the current sign-up list, the 2025 Manitoba Open will not be short on talent. This season’s field features several PBA, PWBA, and Team Canada Members. Additionally, a host of past champions and NDBowling.com Major winners are currently listed on the roster as well. Any competitive bowler hopes to shoe it up against some of the best local, regional, and national talet there is, and the 2025 Open will provide exactly that.
Bold Predictions
The 2025 Manitoba Open is projected to top 72 entries which would result in the top 32 advancing to match play with an 8-person stepladder final being contested on NDBowlTV. It is only fitting to provide 8 players in my bold predictions this season. (in no particular order)
– Austyn Ducharme
– Mitch Hupe
– Blake Wallstrum
– Dustin Herold
– Wade Scott
– Felicia Wong
– Zach Wilkins
– Isreal Potter
