The 2022 Morris Anderson Memorial Shootout will kickoff this weekend at North Hill Bowl in Minot. The Shootout often provides one of the more talented fields we will see all season. Here are some of the story lines heading into the season’s first NDBowling.com Major Championship.
Pattern Analysis
The pattern for the 2022 Morris Anderson Memorial Shootout will be a custom 42 foot pattern that features over 28 mls of oil and a 2.43-1 ratio. While still fairly flat in the middle, the pattern contains a fair amount of taper in the track area that will promote multiple avenues to the pocket. Because of this, I expect scores to be decent early on but will develop into a pretty tough transition. Look for the cut to be in the -25 to +25 range.
First 300 = $3000
Each year, Farmers Union Insurance sponsors the 300 game pot with $300. Since that pot has not been won for several years, it currently stands at $3000. This season’s pattern is slightly easier than years past so there is a decent chance for a 300 game. Look for a few players to make a run at 300 early in the block on Saturday. Remember, it’s the first 300 game that gets the pot. However, if more than one 300 is bowled in the same game of qualifying, the pot will be split. Based on the projected prize list, shooting the first 300 game in qualifying would net more than the 2nd place finisher on Sunday. Shooting 300 is one thing, doing so with $3000 on the line is a whole different ball game.
NDBowling.com Career Majors List
Defending champion Andy Mills will enter the 2022 Shootout with an opportunity to become just the 2nd bowler with 6 or more NDBowling.com Major Titles (Michael Schmidt – 7). Mills will also be looking to become the first 3 time winner of the Shootout. Eric Parvey, Matt Smallin, and Mike Morris will also be in the field looking to become the 5th bowler with 5 or more (Schmidt – 7, Mills – 5, Dave Schick – 5, Jeff Smith – 5).
